| IPHDA is the association that wants to know
How BROKE is your HORSE?
IPHDA defines a broke horse as a horse that will
-
wait for the riders cue’s,
-
willingly accept the rider’s direction’s.
The IPHDA competition patterns test the riders effectiveness and the horses willingness to follow the riders cues at varying degrees of difficulty!
IPHDA has been compared to,
western dressage, reining, or horsemanship.
All 3 are accurate discriptions;
- Like dressage, the IPHDA levels start with simple patterns performed at a walk/trot and increase in difficulty as the horse and rider become more accomplished.
- Like reining, IPHDA expects horses to be willingly guided with little or no apparent resistance.
- Like horsemanship, IPHDA uses patterns to test precision and correct execution of maneuvers showing the riders ability to communicate with their horse.
So whether you chase cans, cows or great views on the trail, IPHDA can help you enjoy it on a broke horse!
"IPHDA makes developing a broke horse a journey of competition, instead of a journey to compete "
IPHDA program is educational and competitive for all levels of horses and riders.
Most of all, its fun for the whole family.

IPHDA fund Raiser for your club!
We would like to introduce IPHDA events to your area. IPHDA is willing to pay the expenses of sending both a judge and clinician to your area to help run the first event. If an individual or a horse club would like to organize an IPHDA event in their area they should contact Rod Miller or Terri Fox.
This could be a fun educational fund raiser for your club. All that is needed is a date and a facility, IPHDA supplies the rest and the host club charges appropriate fee's.
